A California district lawyer declined to file expenses Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reports and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no expenses be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Workplace concluded its overview of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery in opposition to another passenger on an airplane while waiting on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a statement.

"Our determination is that we will not file any costs against Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim main up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of each the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed in this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video didn't present what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file charges by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement agencies "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
