A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to hold out a mass capturing, authorities said.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace said it had discovered earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a pupil at an elementary college.

It mentioned its local college threat enforcement workforce was immediately notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led right into a police automobile.

“This pupil’s habits is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in a press release, noting that the threat came just days after the lethal college taking pictures at Robb Elementary School left 19 college students and two academics lifeless.

“Proper now will not be the time to act like a bit delinquent. It’s not funny,” he stated. “This youngster made a pretend menace, and now he’s experiencing actual consequences.”

Marceno said his staff “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to investigate the incident.

The comment came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Could 24 school capturing after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup as an alternative of instantly transferring in on the gunman.
