Taliban chief orders girls to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s women to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives since the Taliban seized power.

“They should put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.

“These women who aren't too outdated or younger should cover their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, with a purpose to avoid provocation when assembly males who are not mahram (grownup close male relations),” the decree said.

It added that if ladies had no essential work outdoors it was “better they stay at dwelling.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on ladies.
