VICTORIA, Texas -- The Sandy Hook households' lawsuits against Infowars host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for calling the 2012 Newtown college shooting a hoax appear poised to renew quickly, primarily based on agreements revealed Friday within the bankruptcy instances of a few of Jones' companies.

The bankruptcy filings of Infowars, Prison Planet TV and IW Health last month delayed the lawsuits filed in Texas and Connecticut. Jones has already lost the defamation lawsuits, and the filings came per week earlier than a jury in Texas was set to start contemplating how a lot money Jones should pay the families of victims within the Sandy Hook Elementary School taking pictures.

On Friday, attorneys in the chapter case stated the households shall be removed as collectors, and Infowars and Jail Planet TV will probably be eliminated as defendants in the Texas and Connecticut defamation cases.

The state instances would then continue against Jones and his largest money-making firm, Free Speech Methods, neither of which filed for bankruptcy. It was not instantly clear when those circumstances will resume.

The attorneys' feedback got here throughout a hearing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Texas. Kyung Lee, a lawyer for Jones' companies, said the chapter case will proceed as a result of they have other creditors.

A hearing, however, remains scheduled for May 27 on whether the chapter case should be dismissed. The Sandy Hook households have questioned the legitimacy of the filings, saying they had been meant only to delay the defamation lawsuits — claims Jones' legal professionals deny.

The taking pictures at Sandy Hook Elementary College in Newtown, Connecticut, killed 20 children and six educators.

The households of eight of the victims and an FBI agent who responded to school sued Jones, Infowars and others, saying they've been subjected to harassment and dying threats from Jones’ followers because of the hoax conspiracy. Jones has since mentioned he believes the shooting did occur.
