Father or mother with concealed weapon unintentionally shoots self while at Arlington ISD faculty, police say
Arlington police said Duff Elementary School was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a father or mother with a concealed weapon had his gun accidentally go off, hitting the parent within the leg.
ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police mentioned Duff Elementary College was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mother or father with a hid weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the father or mother in the leg.
The varsity had early release and students have been released on the deliberate time of 12:10 p.m.
Based on police, the mother or father, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by accident shot himself. His damage was not serious.
The college district said White was inside the building, near the lobby space, and never within the hallway near students when the gun went off.
Police and school officers stated there was no menace made and the parent did not have "malicious intent."

No students or staff have been injured. The father or mother was taken to an area hospital after being shot in the leg.
Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.
Within the two days because the Uvalde mass school taking pictures, there have been 5 cases in North Texas related to weapons introduced to colleges or threats made.

Arlington mother and father stated their minds instantly considered the worst after they were notified.
No guardian ever needs there to be a reason for them to get a text message saying their child's faculty is on lockdown.
However since this week's deadly taking pictures at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, they can not assist however suppose the worst after they do.
"After I received the text message, I was like, ‘Oh my God, something goes to occur.’ I was shocked," father or mother Karima Rasheed stated.
Whereas most instances, lockdowns are solely drills students have to take part in, Rasheed's son, Rami, mentioned that realizing what occurred earlier this week made this lockdown different.
"I started seeing my classmates beginning to cry and our teacher bought a notification on their telephone saying someone was in the building," he said.

Mitchell lives across the road from Duff Elementary. His daughters go to a different Arlington college.
"I’m terrified, absolutely terrified. I’ve got twin six-year-olds that go to a unique Arlington college and each time I hear there is a lockdown or a college taking pictures, my coronary heart jumps into my throat," he mentioned.
Rasheed said Thursday was the commencement day for 6th grade students at Duff Elementary.
While driving her son to high school in the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever happened at his faculty.
"If one thing happened, you’ve obtained to run wherever that’s secure and conceal," she instructed her youngster.
Whereas some say the incident in Uvalde is simply too recent to talk politics, Mitchell mentioned something must be completed now.
"They need to speak about it, they wish to campaign on it, they wish to fundraiser on it, but they don’t wish to truly go any legal guidelines and do something," he added.
