A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.
San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reports and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.
"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery towards one other passenger on an airplane whereas ready at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe stated in an announcement.
"Our determination is that we will not file any fees in opposition to Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the sufferer main as much as the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of each the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no costs be filed on this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what happened before the altercation.
David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file prices by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement companies "for their cautious, diligent, and professional work."
