Speaking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I really feel higher in regards to the course of our nation."

In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether the country's leadership is dedicated to representing its individuals's best pursuits and whether or not the US is actually "the land of the free and the home of the brave."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her kids. They blocked dad and mom making an attempt to prepare to cost in to stop the shooter, together with a father who learned his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians resolve that the lobbyist and gun industries are more important than our youngsters's freedom to go to highschool without needing bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the lack of supply of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I may have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your country, you let it's recognized by protest. The house of the brave should encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action in opposition to gun violence in the United States.

Kerr refused to discuss basketball ahead of Sport 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, instead elevating his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the final 10 days, we have had elderly Black folks killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have now youngsters murdered at school," Kerr told reporters firstly of the press convention.

"When are we going to do something? I'm tired. I am so tired of getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are on the market ... I am tired of the moments of silence. Enough."
