A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities said.

In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a student at an elementary school.

It mentioned its native college risk enforcement group was instantly notified and started investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's workplace stated.

In video shared by authorities, the boy might be seen being led into a police vehicle.

“This student’s behavior is sickening, particularly after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a press release, noting that the risk got here just days after the deadly faculty capturing at Robb Elementary School left 19 students and two teachers useless.

“Right now is not the time to act like a bit of delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he mentioned. “This baby made a pretend threat, and now he’s experiencing actual consequences.”

Marceno said his workforce “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to investigate the incident.

The comment got here as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Could 24 school taking pictures after it came to light that they waited roughly an hour for backup as an alternative of immediately moving in on the gunman.
